About GetGrabVid
A small, independent web tool for saving videos you have the right to keep.
What this site is
GetGrabVid is a browser-based tool that takes a public video link from TikTok or Instagram (and, for videos you own, YouTube) and gives you the file in the formats the platform published, usually a few video resolutions plus an audio-only track. There is nothing to install and no account to create. Alongside the tool we publish plain-language guides about video formats, quality, offline viewing and the rules around saving other people's work.
Who runs it
GetGrabVid is operated by ABDUALWAHAB. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Google or Meta. Those names belong to their owners and are used only to describe which links the tool can read. You can reach us through the contact page.
Why we built it
Creators regularly need a copy of their own uploads: to re-edit them, to archive them before an account change, or to keep a version that does not depend on a platform staying online. Teachers and students need offline copies of material they have permission to use. Many existing tools bury that simple job under pop-ups and fake download buttons. We kept the interface to one input field and one button, and we put the explanations where people can read them.
What we deliberately do not do
- No fake download buttons and no forced redirect chains.
- No account, no sign-in, no upload of your files to us.
- No hosting or indexing of anyone's videos. Nothing is stored on our servers.
- No support for private, restricted or paywalled content.
- No editing, cropping or retouching of the files you receive.
Acceptable use
The tool is intended for content you created yourself, content published under a licence that allows reuse, public-domain material, or content you have explicit permission to save. Redistributing other people's work without permission is not allowed and is your responsibility, not ours. Our terms of service and disclaimer set this out in full. If you are a rights holder and want something removed or blocked, tell us on the contact page and we will respond.
How we write our guides
Every guide in the blog is written for a specific question that visitors ask: why a download failed, what a quality label means, which format to choose, what a licence allows. We describe how the tool and the platforms actually behave, we avoid promises we cannot keep, and we update an article when a platform changes how it works. Where a point depends on a platform's terms or on the law in your country, we say so and point you to the original source instead of guessing.
How we handle data
We do not require an account and we do not build user profiles. Links you paste are used to resolve the media and are not kept as a browsing history tied to you. Files pass through the service and are not retained. The full detail, including our hosting provider, analytics and advertising partner, is in the privacy policy.
How the site is funded
The service is free. Running costs may be covered by advertising, which is why you may see ad units on some pages. Advertising never changes what the tool does, and we do not sell your data.
Languages
The interface is available in English and Arabic. The Arabic version lives at /ar and includes its own explanations rather than a word-for-word copy of the English page.
Contact
Questions, bug reports, corrections and takedown requests all go through the contact page, and we aim to answer within a few business days.
